In a recent research, a group of Canadian scientists discovered that one herb can fight cancer naturally without side-effects. This outstanding news comes from the University of Windsor in 2009, where the scientists did their analysis on the effects of dandelion against cancer. The idea of this analysis came from one oncologist who found a relation between dandelion root tea and low cancer risk.
Who gets the credit?
The discovery came from Pamela Ovadje, a post-doctoral candidate at the University, who found the benefits of the plant. In an interview she tells us that they got the base of this project from an oncologist who told them about the progress in one of his patient’s health, who was drinking dandelion root tea on a daily basis. At first they were skeptics about it but still they began the examination. She says that she thought there is no way that people didn’t know that the cure was placed in a common plant such as dandelion. Furthermore she explains that they tried the extract on leukemia cells, colon and pancreatic cancer, and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, and in all cases dandelion root had a strong effect on cancer without harming healthy cells.
Since 2015 the dandelion root extract has been approved for human trials and it is adopted in the first phase of research for treatment of lymphoma and leukemia. A biochemist form the same University Dr. Sciarra Pandi, rates the extract as one of the natural cures that have the highest effect against cancer
How does it work?
The extract works by provoking the process of apoptosis in the cells which basically means that cells which are not needed anymore are killed in a highly regulated process. This project is in its beginnings, but yet it may represent a foundation for the future treatments.
